GRAND EUROPEAN 2013

The Cadillac Club Nederland has the pleasure to organize The Grand European 2013 , a fascinating bi-annual event for members of Cadillac clubs all over the world.

The activities and tours are organised near the 3 large Dutch cities Amsterdam, Den Haag, Rotterdam with the NH-Hotel “de Leeuwenhorst” on close distance to these cities.

The GE2013 takes place from Wednesday August 28th to Sunday September 1st 2013.

On May 19th 101 teams from 16 countries did already register for the GE2013.

The GE2013-registration form was printed on the cover of the  March issue of Self Starter (CLC”s club magazine). The GE2013 is now presented to the nearly 7200 members of the Cadillac LaSalle Club, including about 400 members in Europe. Thanks Tim Coy and Steve Steward for covering the GE in you wonderfull Self Starter.

We did send extra invitations to the European CLC members. We also hope to welcome participants from Austria, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, the Baltic States, Hungary, Luxemburg, China and Russia.

Cadillac just started to assemble the XTS in Shanghai and plans to sell 100.000 cars in China in 2015 including many of the new CTS which will be unveiled end of March in New York with its mighty 420 hp twin turbo 3,6 liter V6 engine! Click here to see the data and video.

Hopefully the GE2013 will  boost sales of new Cadillacs in Europe and beyond! We can show the world how nice it is to own and drive classic  Cadillacs in Europe.

We are very pleased to have many presidents from the internationals Cadillac Clubs as participants such as Larse Kneller from the CLC and his wife Jaunda, Sami Heteaho from Finland, Wilhelm Doering from Germany.  Yann Saunders famous for www.cadillacdatabase.com will also attend the GE.

Paul Ayres, President of the CLC Museum & Research Center will also participate. The $ 2 milion project of the new Cadillac Museum  on the site of the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners Michigan is in progress. Click here for more information. The Classic Cadillac Club Deutschland made a special Standard about the previous GE2010 in Richlieu France, click here for the report and read about the organisers and participants. We like to thank Sigrid Hofman and  Christian Doerk    (editor of the Classic Cadillac Club of Germany and specialist on 1964 Cadillac!) for promoting the GE and bringing us into contact with Cadillac Europe and the organisation of Kremsmunster. 

The GE2013 really brings all Cadillac fans closer to each other!

According to Sami Heteaho we can expect many teams from Finland. President Carsten Jacobson from the Danish Cadillac club also expects many Danish teams will come to the GE2013.

Harry Kjensli from Norway,  president of the American Car Club of Norway, and founder of Cruise66 & the Lincoln Highway Centennial Tour will also participate after completing the 3398 mile long trip from New York to SanFrancisco. Click here for more information about the LHCT. The organizers hope that 100 US-Cars from Europe  will participate next July.

Christian Freudenthaler and Georg Pfeiffer, co-organisers of the Kremsmunster Meeting in Austria will be present. Kremsmunster Austria is located between Salzburg and Linz. It’s  Europe’s  largest Cadillac meeting. Tehy were so kind to cancel their meeting for 2013 in order to give more Cadillac owners the opportunity to go to the GE2013. The GE is an excellent way to promote the Kremsmunster 10th anniversary in 2014.

 In 2015  the GE will be held in Switzerland and in 2017 the GE will be held in Denmark.

Hotel

Participants can stay in NH Hotel ‘de Leeuwenhorst’ in Noordwijkerhout. A large, comfortable Resort less than 5 km from the North Sea coast, which offers a large parking facility with 2 levels. The hotel has a large lounge, bar, restaurant, swimming pool and a large hall for our big final party on Saturday August 31st.

The programme

First day -  Wednesday Augustus 28^th

• Arrival at Noordwijkerhout where you can check in
• Around 7 PM, welcome cocktail in the lounge.
• At 8 PM welcome buffet in the restaurant of the NH Hotel

 After the Welcome Buffet at around 9.30 pm CCN-member Rudy Gersons will invite you for a lecture with Power point presentation on Dutch 17th century paintings with main-focus on Rembrandt. For more info click here

Second day –  Thursday August 29^th

Day trip which busses: 

• In the morning to Zaanse Schans. (www.zaanseschans.nl)
• Vist to Cadillac dealer Middelbeek Cars in Alkmaar  where many new Cadillacs will be on display including the brand new ATS. (www.middelbeekcars.nl)
• Lunch at van der Valk Restaurant in Akersloot  (we selected this location instead of Alkmaar because we expect very many GE2013 participants!!)
• In the afternoon visit to Amsterdam for sight seeing and canal cruise.  (www.lovers.nl)
• Around 6 PM  the busses return to the NH-Hotel in Noordwijkerhout.
• Free programme for the evening. Participants may want to cruise on the boulevard of Noordwijk along the shore of the North Sea. There are many restaurants in the area such as the Wok restaurant ‘All you can eat’  next to NH, the beach restaurants in Noordwijk, Nederzandt and also the restaurant in the Hotel. Some restaurants have a magnificent view of the North sea.

Third day – Friday August 30^th

• In the morning visit to Den Hartog Ford Museum at Hillegom in your Cadillac including a great lunch around noon. (www.fordmuseum.nl)
• In the afternoon visit to the famous and beautiful Louwman Museum in the Hague, one of the most exquisite collections of classic cars in the world!  (www.louwmanmuseum.nl)
• In the evening bus trip to the largest paddle steamer of Europe “de Majesteit” (=Majesty) at the port of Rotterdam  for Harbour tour,  a party and special Missisippi Dinner with drinks. (www.raderstoomboot.nl)

 

 

Fourth day – Saturday August 31^st

Various options for this day such as

• touring trips, visit to musea

• visit to private Cadillac collection of Ton Rijnbeek’s at Hazerswoude , free of charge. (www.cadillacs.nl)
• Presentations and work shops presented by GE2013 participants/International Cadillac Clubs/Sponsors/Cadillac dealers about new Restorations/Clubs/Technical subjects and parts/new Cadillacs.
• Starting at 6 PM, dinner and big party in the large hall of NH with live music.

LaSalle as Sponsor offers a free ride by Touring Car from Alphen to the Corvette Collection in Wezep for those who like to visit both wonderful collections. Bus departure around 11.30 AM from Alphen to Wezep, back in Alphen around 5 PM.

Total trip from NH-Noordwijkerhout to Alphen aan de Rijn to Wezep and back to NH is about 300 kilometers.

 

Evening dinner & big final party

Starting at 7 PM, a dinner and big final party in the large hall of NH with live band: the famous Lennerockers from Germany and Star guest: Memory Marilyn

and announcement of the Awards.

 

Fifth Day, Sunday – September 1^st

Unfortunately NH hotel is fully booked on Sunday. 

Participants who like to stay longer can select another hotel in the area.

Check out early on Sunday morning before 11.00 hr.

The location for Sunday is Beach Resort Nederzandt. An unique location in de dunes near the beach wit a very large parking lot.

The program for Sunday includes:

- Concours d’Elegance

- Awards extended to the winners

- Swap meet (Cadillac parts, work shops, show and shine)

- BBQ/Dinner in one of the various restaurants of Nederzandt

- Enjoying the beach  / sun bathing  , the weather should be nice end of August!

More items will be added to the programme of  Sunday in the coming months.

 

 

 Fringe events during the Cadillac GE2013

In addition long time CCN member Rudy Gersons, teacher of History of Art offers:

            – Lecture (with PowerPoint) on Dutch paintings of the 17th century with main focus on   Rembrandt, on Wednesday evening after the welcome diner in the NH-Hotel, For more info please click here

De Grand European wordt van woensdag 28 augustus tot en met zondag 1 september  2013 door de CCN georganiseerd voor leden van wereldwijde Cadillac clubs. Het NH Hotel de Leeuwenhorst in Noordwijkerhout is de standplaats. Van hieruit vinden diverse  activiteiten plaats die de Grand European 2013 ongetwijfeld tot een onvergetelijk evenement zullen maken. We verwachten vele honderden deelnemers uit binnen- en buitenland met net als in het verleden zelfs deelnemers uit Australië, Brazilië, de USA.

Sponsor Honest John (Foust) uit Texas en zijn vrouw Donna nemen zelfs hun Cadillac Sedan de Ville uit 1963 mee.  ( www.honestjohn.com)

Murray Bollen komt over uit Australia en zal toelichting geven over de grote Cadillac meeting daar in 2014.

 

Hotel en standplaats

Hotel de Leeuwenhorst in Noordwijkerhout beschikt over alle gewenste faciliteiten om als basisplek voor het evenement te dienen.

Er zijn voldoende goed uitgeruste kamers om vele honderden belangstellenden te herbergen.

Het hotel beschikt verder over een gereserveerde parkeerplaats, speciaal voor de vaak kostbare Cadillacs, verder een grote lounge, bar, restaurant en een grote zaal voor ons daverende slotfeest op zaterdagavond 31 augustus.

Hieraan voorgaand een koud en warm buffet, indien men wenst.

Vanuit Noordwijkerhout zullen ook mooie excursies en ritten gemaakt worden.

Het hotel heeft verder ook een mooi groot overdekt zwembad en andere faciliteiten.

 

 

 

Het programma

 

1^e dag / woensdag 28 augustus
Aankomst in Noordwijkerhout in de loop van de dag om in te checken en kennis te maken.

Om 19.00 uur welkomstdrankje in de bar en om 20.00 uur welkomstdiner in het restaurant in het NH Hotel.

 

2^e dag / donderdag  29 augustus

Dagexcursie per luxe touringcar naar de Zaanse Schans. (www.zaanseschans.nl)

Bezoek aan Cadillac-dealer Middelbeek voor het bekijken van de nieuwe Cadillacs. (www.middelbeekcars.nl)

Uitgebreide lunch bij Restaurant Van der Valk in Akersloot. (in verband met het grote aantal deelnemers hebben we voor deze locatie gekozen i.p.v. de lunch in Alkmaar).

In de middag brengen wij bezoek aan Amsterdam met een rondvaart. (www.lovers.nl)

Rond 18:00 uur gaat de bus terug naar het NH-hotel in Noordwijkerhout.

De avond is vrij. Men kan op deze avond een rit over de boulevard van Noordwijk maken. Verder kan men zelf een keuze maken om ergens iets te eten in één van de vele restaurants aan de boulevard of het Chinees Wok restaurant met ‘all you can eat’ van 5 verschillende buffetten dat gelegen ligt vlak naast het NH of eet gezellig in het grote restaurant van NH.

 

3^e dag / vrijdag 30 augustus

In de morgen brengen wij een bezoek aan het ‘Den Hartogh Ford museum’ in Hillegom per Cadillac met aan het einde een uitgebreide lunch in het restaurant van het museum. (www.fordmuseum.nl)

In de middag gaan wij per Cadillac naar het prachtige Louwman oldtimermuseum in Den Haag.  (www.louwmanmuseum.nl)

Tegen de avond vertrekken wij per touringbus naar de Raderstoomboot ‘de Majesteit’ in Rotterdam voor een rondvaart, een feestelijke avond met eten en drankjes waarna wij weer teruggebracht zullen worden per luxe touringbus.  (www.raderstoomboot.nl)

 

4^e dag /zaterdag 31 augustus

De Cadillacs die gejureerd worden voor een Award staan ‘s morgens vanaf 09.00 uur bij het hotel opgesteld.

Verder zijn er diverse opties zoals bezoeken aan:

-       LaSalle Classic Cars in Alphen a/d Rijn (www.lasalleclassiccars.com);

-       De Corvette Collection van André Boer in Wezep

-       De Cadillac verzameling van Ton Rijnbeek in Hazerswoude (www.cadillacs.nl);

Bij voldoende interesse zal er een bus ingezet worden om deelnemers van het NH-hotel te rijden naar LaSalle in Alphen a/d/ Rijn en de Corvette Collectie van André Boer in Wezep.

Vanaf 18:00 uur is er een groot afscheidsfeest met aperitief, warm en koud buffet en live muziek door een gerenommeerde band en uitreiking van de prijzen.

 

5^e dag / zondag 1 september

 

 

Na het vertrek uit het NH hotel worden de deelnemers verwacht op Strandlocatie Nederzandt  dat op slechts 7 km afstand ligt van NH. Hier worden ze ontvangen met gratis drank en gebak.

Het Concours d’Elegance begint daar omstreeks 12.00 uur. Vervolgens worden de prijzen uitgereikt. Vanaf 10.00 zijn daar andere gasten die niet vanuit het NH-hotel komen welkom.

Op het grote parkeerterrein in de duinen vlak achter het strand worden deze dag veel Cadillacs verwacht.

Niet alleen van de GE2013 deelnemers maar ook van CCN-leden die alleen op zondag komen en andere Cadillac-eigenaren en liefhebbers die geen lid zijn van de CCN.

Het programma omvat een Swap meet, onderdelen verkoop, taxaties, show and shine, foto shoots.

De grote BBQ begint om 14.00 uur in een van de vele restaurants en terrassen van Nederzandt op eigen kosten.

Deelnemers van de GE2013 krijgen kortingsbonnen. Bij mooi weer is zonnebaden en zwemmen uiteraard mogelijk.  

In de komende maanden wordt het programma verder uitgebreid.

We verwachten dat veel deelnemers van de GE2013 deze dag geheel of gedeeltelijk zullen blijven.

Het NH-hotel is die dag volgeboekt maar er is volop plaats bij andere hotels voor degenen die zondagavond willen overnachten in de buurt.
